The Senate Elections Committee will meet at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, December 17, in room 216 of the Capitol to discuss voter ID and other items that could be presented during the 2009 legislative session.
Elections Committee Chairman Senator Terry Burton, R-Newton, said data to be shared at the meeting will lay out the public sentiment toward issues like voter ID, which failed to gain the needed support to pass during the 2008 session.
“We will hear from the Election Reform Review Panel that met around the state throughout the summer getting ideas,” Burton said. “Voter ID will be discussed along with excused voting or early voting.”
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann will make the first presentation at 11 a.m., and senate members will meet throughout the early afternoon, Burton said.
The media is invited to attend and hear what the senate’s 2009 elections related agenda will consist of.
